When most folks think about fishing collectibles, they likely conjure up images of fine bamboo rods, early reels, wooden lures with glass eyes, hand-carved ice-fishing decoys, or perhaps leather-trimmed split willow creels. Not Dean Smith—he likes all of the other stuff best: gizmos, bottles, boxes, tins, medals, pins, knives, fly-tying vises, advertising items, and all sorts of paraphernalia with a fishing theme. AMFF curator Jim Schottenham welcomed special guest Dean Smith to the third episode of Tackle Talk on Saturday, September 21. Dean shared some special items from his collection and provided information on a few items from the museum’s collection as well.
