Among saltwater fly anglers, the reels built by Bob McChristian are regarded as some of the best ever made. Seamaster reels feature a hard anodized finish that could withstand any saltwater environment, a trait that propelled them to the top of the saltwater fly-reel market in the 1960s. Early models were made as direct drive or anti-reverse, but with the introduction of the Seamaster Dual Mode reel, patented in 1987, anglers could have the features of both in one reel.
