The circa 1899 B. F. Meek & Sons model #44 trout reel was the pinnacle of high-grade single-action reels at the turn of the twentieth century. Made of German silver, it featured “stub’s steel” pivots and shaft to reduce wear and friction. Offered until 1916, when the Horton Mfg. Co. purchased the Meek Company, the reel went through three design changes, this being the first version.
